While most prized coffees in Kenya are produced by a collective organization of anonymous farmers, this coffee can be traced back to a single farm microlot run by Mathew Mugo. Mathew’s microlot, Kathunguri Farm, is located on the slopes of Mt. Kenya where the rich volcanic soil and the excellent climate creates the perfect condition to cultivate coffee. Traceability gives Mathew credibility as a producer, as he is transparent about where the coffee is grown, and how the cherries are picked and processed. This coffee is rich like black tea, nutty like almonds, and has a sweet acidity of tangerines.
