Kenyan coffees are known for their exceptional quality, due to the rich volcanic soil and the excellent climate which creates the ideal condition to cultivate coffee. However, many producers in Kenya face challenges in sustaining a comfortable lifestyle due to the lack of financial protection. To encourage the younger generation to stay and to improve the coffee industry, Peter Muchiri and his wife founded Rockbern Coffee Group in 2012.
Peter was born into a coffee producer's family, and gained experience in accounting before returning to the coffee industry. His personal connection to coffee producers and his expertise in finance makes him a great advocate for local producers, allowing him to create trust between many of them. To ensure a financial safety net for the producers, Rockbern provides transparency in their supply chain, and ensures quality through setting up appropriate infrastructure to transport, process, and store coffee until it reaches us roasters through direct trade.
This lot was processed as a traditional washed, which showcases the inherent characteristics of the coffee varieties. You can expect rich sweetness of honey, vibrant notes of blueberries with a touch of orange peel, resulting in a clean and well-balanced cup.
