Ricardo Perez Barrantes, Marvin Rodriguez, and Felipe Rodriguez are the partners behind the micromill, Helsar de Zarcero. The mill is located in Llano Bonito of Naranjo, in the West Valley region of Costa Rica. Helsar de Zarcero is an association of producers formed by 30 families in the West Valley region, all committed to sustainable coffee production. Helsar de Zarcero advocates for environmentally sustainable and organic practices, such as using collected rain water and fresh water to process cherries in eco-pulpers. This washed coffee highlights the sweet notes of ripe cherries, complex and nuanced dark chocolate, and rich and buttery walnuts.
